One of the most awarded professional brewers in the world, Jeff Bagby left his last key position as Director of Brewery Operations at Pizza Port at the end of 2011. In his last three years at the helm of the iconic Carlsbad location, Jeff scored the highest honor possible three years running at the Great American Beer Festival, awarded the brewery and brewer of the year awards in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Upon his departure from Pizza Port, Jeff and his wife Dande scouted real estate and finalized business planning for what would eventually become Bagby Beer Company. Jeff has also worked as a brewer for Stone Brewing and Oggi's, and is a native San Diegan - only leaving Southern California to complete his higher education at UCSB. Jeff is passionate about creating excellent, true-to-style, drinkable beers. He is also responsible for the cocktail and guest beer programs here at Bagby.

Justin brings an incredible wealth of knowledge from his years of experience in hospitality, beer and wine to the Bagby team. His unwavering commitment to and passion for all things craft and well-made, as well as his calm, focused, and direct demeanor make him an incredible part of everything Bagby. Besides leading the FOH teams, he is our in-house wine buyer, and works closely with Jeff when it comes to guest beers, cocktails, and events.



A long-time Oceanside resident, Chef Robert comes to Bagby after several decades in professional kitchens, including The Gambling Cowboy, and La Costa Resort and Spa. Robert's creative vision is most evident when perusing our Brunch menu, and gradually his treats are making their way to our standard offerings.



After many years as a Service Manager at Claim Jumper, Claire joined the Bagby team just before opening in 2014 and quickly ascended to the position of Assistant Hospitality Manager. She ultimately rose to the Executive level, where she is a key contributor to everything from human resources to private events. She is thorough, detailed, and a genuine team player, who is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure the Bagby vision is executed.



Dande's attention to detail and commitment to excellence have become a large part of the foundation of Bagby. She boasts a keen eye for design, graphic design, color and layout, and is responsible for the aesthetic of the building and it's overall look and feel. Beyond the design aspects of Bagby, Dande also manages the oversight of the daily business operations and is the entirety of Bagby's "marketing department". Although she has a bachelors degree in Biology from CSUSM, a background in zoology (as an employee of the Zoological Society of San Diego for 7 years), and business management experience during her tenure at a local Fortune 300 company, it wasn't until she met her now husband Jeff that they began to develop the concept of Bagby. She and Jeff spent nearly a decade dreaming of opening their own brewpub, commencing shortly after they met in 2005.  Like Jeff, Dande is a native San Diegan; they live in north county with their four beagles (Murphy, Oliver, Delilah, and English) and their cat, Harvey.
